[imgleft] american-idol-chicago-2.jpg[/imgleft] "American Idol" auditions head to the Windy City, and let's hope the singers do our president and Oprah proud.

The city's musical heritage includes blues, soul, jazz and gospel, and more recently has been the scene for house music, hip-hop, indie and alternative rock.

You may recognize some of these Chi-Town musicians and bands: Earth Wind and Fire, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lou Rawls, Liz Phair, Rise Against, Common, Da Brat, Fall Out Boy, the Plain White T's and oh, an Oscar winner named Jennifer Hudson.

Check out this great video from the Chicago Tribune, previewing the talent that's auditioning in Chicago.

What do you think? Will Chicago be your kind of town?
