[imgleft] simon-cowell-american-idol-320-2.jpg[/imgleft] "American Idol's" Simon Cowell is the next in a long line of celebrities helping to raise money for Haiti relief in the wake of the devastating earthquake.

Cowell told the Associated Press that he was asked by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to aid in the Haiti relief effort, so he will be producing a single within the next 10 days and all the proceeds will go to the Haiti earthquake victims.

"I don't know who's available, but I will get a record out within seven to 10 days," said Cowell, adding that the British government may forgo tax revenues on the single so that as much money as possible can be sent to Haiti.

Some of the names already being considered are British stars Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle and Cheryl Cole, added Cowell.

If you'd like to get involved in the Haiti relief efffort, the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon airs in the U.S. Friday, Jan. 22 on just about every network. Check your local listings for times.
