Sonny Bono was an American recording artist and producer best known for being Cher’s first husband, singer Sonny Bono managed to get elected to Congress in 1995. He died after running into a tree while skiing near Lake Tahoe. Though his death was ruled an accident, strong rumors persist that, having been tipped off that high-ranking U.S. government employees were illegally selling weapons and drugs in Central America, Bono was murdered before he could launch a congressional investigation. He died January 5, 1998 at the age of 62.
