    Syfy announced today that Van Helsing has been picked up for a fifth and final season. The news, which comes three days ahead of its fourth-season finale, ensures that showrunners will have plenty of time to craft a fitting end to the saga on their own terms.
     
    Van Helsing is a re-imagining of the perennial Dracula brand that follows the resurrection of Vanessa Helsing, a descendent of the legendary Van Helsing lineage of warriors, and her quest to lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape.

    'Strange Angel' Cancelled By CBS All Access

    It is being reported that CBS All Access has cancelled Strange Angel after two seasons. The move comes four months after the historical period drama aired its sophomore finale, which now acts as its series-ender.
    The show was the third original scripted drama on the streaming service, but was actually the first without any roots in a previous series; preceding dramas The Good Fight and Star Trek: Discovery are both spinoffs. While viewership data is not released, Strange Angel seemed to fly under the radar a bit in terms of popularity, though it did receive a generally-positive critical reception.

Along the way, he fell into a mysterious world where he become a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, whose teachings of self-actualization supported Parsons' unprecedented endeavor to the stars.

When destiny unites him with a powerful sorceress and a young princess, the three must work to navigate the volatile Continent together.

    'Stranger Things' Renewed For Season 4

    Netflix announced today that Stranger Things has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news, which is really no surprise given the series' continued popularity, comes just under three months after the drama's Season 3 release.
    The 1980s-themed horror/mystery drama burst onto the scene in 2016 and quickly gained a huge pop culture following backed by plenty of critical praise and awards. Everything from its captivating storytelling and likable characters, to its creepy atmosphere and nostalgic references, really struck a chord with a wide range of viewers.
    Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana and follows a group of kids who become friends with a mysterious girl that possesses psychokinetic abilities.     There is not much known regarding Season 4 in terms of returning cast members or story line, but a teaser released today reveals that the setting will, at least in part, take place outside of Hawkins. While no premiere date is known, a mid-to-late 2020 return appears likely.

    Based on the classic Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, The Handmaid's Tale takes place in a totalitarian society that was previously part of the United States.     Netflix Cancels 'Designated Survivor'

    Word is out that Designated Survivor has been cancelled once again - this time by Netflix. The move comes the month following the political drama's third season release, which ends up as the only one ordered by the streaming service after being revived last fall.
    The Kiefer Sutherland-led series premiered in 2016 on ABC and was one of the network's best-performing new entries of that season, attracting a healthy audience and even picking up a Critics' Choice award. The initial interest didn't last long, though, as its numbers dipped in Season 2 after the main plot wrapped up. The decline in viewership resulted in its eventual cancellation.
    Netflix stepped in and ordered a 10-episode third season of the show, which was its shortest outing by more than half. Still, fans got to see the story progress to follow President Kirkman's campaign for re-election. But the writing was on the wall that Season 3 would be the end after some key cast members started moving on to other projects.
    Designated Survivor was Sutherland's first return as a lead in a TV series since his career-reviving role as Jack Bauer in Fox's 24 franchise. In the show he plays a Cabinet member who is unexpectedly thrust into the role of President of the United States after a bombing at the Capitol kills a number of key government figures. After being sworn in as President, he starts to learn that the catastrophic attack was only the beginning of a much larger plan.
