    'Daredevil' Cancelled By Netflix

It is not clear if the Daredevil character will make any appearances in either of the other shows' upcoming seasons, but a statement from the streamer mentioned that the character will live on in future projects for Marvel.
    Daredevil premiered back in 2015 as the first Marvel superhero series on the streaming service. It was an immediate hit, with critics and audiences alike praising its gritty atmosphere, engaging story, and exciting action. Its success paved the way for the four aforementioned series, with each earning multiple seasons of their own.
    Daredevil followed attorney Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a boy in a tragic accident that also left him with extraordinary senses.     'Penny Dreadful' Follow-Up Series Ordered

    Showtime announced today that Penny Dreadful is heading back to TV in the form of a follow-up series called Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. The new installment will be set in 1938 and will usher in the story's next chapter with a newfound focus on social consciousness and historical awareness.
    The original series premiered in 2014 and went on to air a total of three seasons on the cable network. Its sudden cancellation in the summer of 2016 took many fans by surprise when it was announced following its third-season finale.     Production on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is set to kick off in 2019.     'The Resident' Earns Full Season 2 Order

    Hulu Revives 'Veronica Mars'

    It's official: Veronica Mars is returning to television. Hulu has ordered eight new episodes of the detective series with star Kristen Bell on-board to reprise her role as the titular character. A premiere is expected sometime in 2019.
    The noir mystery drama first premiered 14 years ago, airing three seasons on UPN and The CW before being cancelled in 2007. While never a ratings standout, the series did amass a loyal fan base who, in 2013, helped fund a feature film via a Kickstarter campaign that accumulated over $5 million.
    Created by Rob Thomas, Veronica Mars follows a young private investigator in the seaside town of Neptune, California. In the revival, Veronica is hired to investigate the recent murders of spring breakers in the community. The case will play out over the course of the season, with Neptune's wealthy elite butting heads with the working class folk, who feel the financial impact the murders are having on tourism.

    NBC Ups Episode Count For 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

    NBC announced today that it is increasing its order for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, adding five episodes to the comedy's debut outing on the network. Slated for a mid-season run in 2018-2019, the half-hour series will now air a total of 18 episodes rather than the originally-planned 13.
    It was back in May that the network saved the series just one day after it was cancelled by Fox after five seasons. Samberg plays the eclectic Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain, played by Andre Braugher.

    'Designated Survivor' Revived By Netflix

    It's official: Designated Survivor will be returning for a third season. The cancelled political drama has been revived by Netflix with a 10-episode order for next year. The surprise announcement comes after a prolonged negotiation effort between the streaming service and the show's Canadian-based production company, Entertainment One.
    The Kiefer Sutherland-led series premiered in 2016 on ABC and was one of the network's best-performing new entries of the season, attracting a healthy audience and even picking up a Critics' Choice award. The initial interest didn't last long, though, as its numbers dipped in Season 2 after the show's main plot wrapped up. The decline in viewership resulted in its eventual cancellation back in May.

    Designated Survivor is Sutherland's first return as a lead in a TV series since his career-reviving role as Jack Bauer in Fox's 24franchise. In the show he plays a Cabinet member who is unexpectedly thrust into the role of President of the United States after a bombing at the Capitol kills a number of key government figures. After being sworn in as President, he starts to learn that the catastrophic attack was only the beginning of a much larger plan.

The early notice will give its writers time to craft a suitable ending that will provide loyal fans with some much-deserved closure. USA Network has not been as kind to other serialized shows recently with the sudden axing of both Colony and Shooter this summer.
