It is being reported that The Last Ship will conclude after its upcoming fifth season. The news, while surely disappointing to fans, at least gives those awaiting the show's fate an update on its status. It has been more than a year-and-a-half since the show was last picked up for Seasons 4 and 5 within a one-month span.
TNT's move to end the veteran series was somewhat expected, as those close to the show appear to have known its fate for some time. The most-telling info came last fall from Travis Van Winkle, who plays Danny, when he posted a since-deleted message on his Instagram account referring to a "series wrap".
While today's news is surely sad for The Last Ship's loyal fans, they can at least take solace that the show will get a satisyfing conclusion to its storyline, as its impending end was clearly known well ahead of time.
Look for the final season to premiere later this year.
  • The action drama's upcoming season will be its last.

Freeform announced today that Siren has been renewed for a second season. The freshman series is off to a solid start, with its March premiere ranking it as the #1 new cable drama among young women.
The network has ordered 16 episodes for the show's sophomore run, which is a considerable increase over the 10 it received in Season 1.
Siren follows the residents of Bristol Cove, a coastal fishing town where a legend exists that it was once home to mermaids. The folklore is proven true when a mysterious girl named Ryn arrives, wreaking havoc that results in a battle between the town's residents and these predatory beings who wish to reclaim their right to the sea.
Two episodes remain in the show's first season, with the finale set to air on Thursday, May 24.
  • The mermaid drama will return for Season 2.

ABC announced today that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up for a sixth season. The good news comes as the network is making last-minute decisions on its lineup for the 2018-2019 television season.
The veteran drama has had a solid run on the network overall, reaching the impressive 100-episode milestone earlier this year. The series has been on the bubble come renewal time in recent years, though, as its current ratings are far from what they used to be. However, the series benefits from its international appeal and its ability to tie-in with movie franchises within the Marvel universe.
Look for Season 6 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to premiere in the 2018-2019 season.
  • The action series will return in 2018-2019.

Netflix announced today that Lost in Space has been renewed for a second season. The pickup comes a month following the release of the drama's freshman run, which has so-far been receiving mixed review from critics.
A re-imagining of the 1960s series of the same name, Lost in Space follows a future where Planet Earth is in crisis, and the Robinson family journeys to space with hopes of writing a new chapter in human history. But when their spacecraft crashes on a mysterious frozen planet, the family faces unknown dangers as they fight for their lives to escape.
Look for Season 2 of Lost in Space in 2019.

Fox announced today that Batman prequel Gotham has been renewed for a fifth and final season. The DC Comics-based drama, which follows the beginnings of the infamous city and all of its villains, has been a solid performer for the network over the course of its run.
In Season 4, viewers started seeing a young Bruce Wayne masquerading as a masked vigilante to fight crime in the city. The final season of the origin story will further follow his transformation into the caped crusader.
While each of the show's previous seasons has been 22 episodes in length, it is being reported that a shorter 13-episode run is being considered to conclude the series. Look for the final chapter of Gotham to premiere during the 2018-2019 season, likely as a mid-season entry.
  • The origin drama will conclude in 2019.

Fox announced today that Lethal Weapon will be coming back for a third season. While the action drama remains a solid ratings draw, its future had been in doubt in recent weeks after star Clayne Crawford was fired over multiple alleged on-set incidents.
Today's renewal comes along with the announcement of Crawford's replacement, as Seann William Scott will be stepping in to play the part of a new character to partner with Damon Wayans' Roger Murtaugh. The role will be Scott's first as a regular in a television series. The actor is perhaps best-known for his roles as Stifler in the American Pie movies and Chester in Dude, Where's My Car?
Based on the movie franchise of the same name, Lethal Weaponfollows two Los Angeles cops as they team up to fight crime in the city of angels. Look for the show to return this fall as part of Fox's 2018-2019 lineup.

NBC announced today that The Blacklist has been renewed for a sixth season. The good news comes days ahead of the crime drama's Season 6 finale, which is promising fans answers to its season-long mystery.
Led by James Spader, the veteran series premiered in 2013 and was one of the top new shows of the year. Ratings have tapered off quite a bit since then, but episodes still draw a consistent audience on Wednesday nights. The show surpassed the 100-episode milestone earlier this year.
The Blacklist stars Spader as an ex-government agent-turned-FBI's most wanted fugitive, who mysteriously surrenders himself to the agency with an offer to help them bring down some of the country's top criminals. The only condition is that he gets to work alongside an FBI profiler named Elizabeth Keen, which leads to a twisting series of events that slowly reveal his true motives.
NBC has reportedly ordered another 22 episodes for Season 6 of The Blacklist, which is in-line with each of its previous seasons. Look for a premiere in January 2019.
  • The crime drama will be back in 2019.

CBS announced today that Elementary has been renewed for a seventh season. The good news comes just two episodes into the crime drama's current season, which this year was moved to the network's mid-season schedule for the first time.
The hour-long procedural has been an overall reliable performer for CBS over the course of its time on the air, though ratings have taken a hit in recent years. However, the fact that the network owns the series and that it does well internationally likely factored into today's Season 7 pickup.
Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as famed British detective Sherlock Holmes, who takes residence in New York in order to deal with his addiction issues. While there, he teams with Dr. Joan Watson and the two work as police consultants solving crimes around the city.
  • The crime drama extends its impressive run.

CBS gave out some good news to Man With A Plan today, renewing the comedy for a third season. The pickup comes with two episodes remaining in the show's sophomore run, which has continued to garner decent ratings on Monday nights airing after Kevin Can Wait.
The comedy premiered in 2016 as Matt LeBlanc's first return to network television since his career-making turn as Joey Tribbiani on Friends and its subsequent spin-off Joey. In Man With A Plan, LeBlanc plays as a married man with three young children. His work as a contractor has seen his wife taking on most of the child-rearing responsibilities, but when she decides to go back to work, he must adjust to his new role as a stay-at-home dad.
Look for Season 3 of Man With A Plan this fall.
  • The Matt LeBlanc comedy will return in 2018-2019.

Word is out that CBS has cancelled Scorpion after four seasons on the air. Star Katharine McPhee confirmed the news on her Twitter account this morning, thanking her cast mates and crew for her time on the show.
The action drama, which follows a group of geniuses helping to solve high-priority crimes, was a decent performer for the bulk of its run. Its most-recent season saw a significant downturn in viewership, however, making today's cancellation somewhat expected.
  • No Season 5 for the veteran drama.

Nine nine! In what may be a new record for the quickest revival of a TV show, NBC has reportedly saved Brooklyn Nine-Ninefrom cancellation one day after being axed by Fox. The network is said to have ordered a 13-episode sixth season of the veteran series.
The good news comes after a large fan outcry over the unexpected cancellation of the beloved comedy. Mere hours after the show's cancellation yesterday, talk had already begun that an outlet such as Hulu, Netflix or even TBS could step in to save the show. Things looked bleak, though, when just hours ago it was reported that Hulu was not interested in taking on the series.
While NBC was also mentioned as a candidate, the network was considered a long-shot at the time. Well it looks like the long-shot came through, as Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor took to Twitter this evening to give the good word to his followers.
Led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows an offbeat group of detectives and staff at the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department. Samberg plays the eclectic Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain, played by Andre Braugher.

  • The veteran cop comedy will return for Season 6 after all.

It is being reported that ABC has cancelled The Crossing after just one season. The mid-season entry premiered early last month, drawing decent ratings for the network in its Monday night time slot.
Set in the small fishing town of Port Canaan, Oregon, The Crossing follows what happens when 47 refugees from a war-torn country wash up on the beach seeking asylum. In a sci-fi twist, it turns out they are actually from America and the war they're running from is 180 years in the future.
New episodes of the show will continue to air as-planned, though a series finale date has yet to be announced.
  • No Season 2 for the sci-fi drama.

It won't be a surprise to many that ABC has officially cancelled Marvel's Inhumans after one season. The news comes half-a-year after the action drama aired its last episode.
Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Inhumans premiered last fall with high expectations due to the successes of other Marvel-based fare in recent years. The series even screened its premiere episodes in Imax theaters. The buzz did not last long though, as the series was met with a negative reception from both viewers and critics.
Based on the Marvel Comics race of the same name, the series follows the adventures of the royal family as they escape to Hawaii after being splintered by a military coup. Led by Black Bolt, the King of the Inhumans, they must find a way to reunite with each other in order to save themselves and the world before their way of life is destroyed forever.
  • The comic-based drama will not be back.

It is being reported that ABC has cancelled Kevin (Probably) Saves the World after just one season. The news is not a complete surprise after the network previously declined to give the new drama a full season.
The hour-long series premiered as part of ABC's fall lineup last October, and while it received a mostly-positive reception from critics, it struggled to find an audience on Tuesday nights. In November the network extended the show's run by only three episodes, which raised eyebrows due to it being short of a typical back-order for a fall drama.
Jason Ritter stars as the titular character, Kevin Finn, who is a self-absorbed man down on his luck and on a perilous path to despair. When he heads back home to stay with his twin sister and niece, an unlikely celestial being appears to him and tasks him with a mission to save the world, giving Kevin a new purpose in life.
  • The Jason Ritter drama will not return.

It is being reported that ABC has cancelled Deception after its first season. The mid-season drama got off to a decent start when it premiered in March, but its ratings quickly dwindled over the course of its run.
The hour-long series followed superstar magician Cameron Black, a master of illusion whose career ends up ruined because of a scandal. In order to keep practicing his art of deception and influence, he offers his services to the FBI as an unconventional way to help the government catch some of the world's most-elusive criminals.
  • No Season 2 for the new drama.

Word is out this afternoon that Fox has cancelled The Exorcistafter two seasons. The sad news comes five months after the drama's sophomore run, which concluded in December. The series was never a standout performer but did find a consistent audience on Friday nights.
Based on the 1971 novel of the same name, The Exorcistfollows two very different priests - Father Tomas Ortega, who is the new face of the Catholic Church, and Father Marcus Brennan, a modern-day Templar Knight raised by the Vatican since childhood. Caught in the middle is the Rance family, who are members of Father Tomas' parish. With a demonic presence in their house appearing to grow stronger each day, they appeal to Father Tomas for help, which sets the naïve priest on a collision course with Father Marcus.
  • The horror series will not return for Season 3.

Days before its third-season finale, Fox has cancelled Lucifer. Star Tom Ellis broke the news this afternoon on his Twitter acccount with a message expressing his sadness to fans. The comics-based drama was a decent performer for the network over a good portion of its time on the air, though ratings were hitting series lows this time around.
The hour-long series follows Lucifer Morningstar, who has retired to Los Angeles from his duties as The Devil to indulge in a more carefree lifestyle. That is, until, he finds a new purpose in life and starts working alongside a homicide detective to solve crime and dispense justice.
Lucifer premiered early in 2016 as a mid-season entry, where it exceeded expectations to become Fox's 2nd-highest rated new series of the season. Its strong showing among viewers and critics prompted the network to shift the show to its regular fall lineup for season 2, but its momentum started slowing when it returned later that year.
The series finale of Lucifer will air on May 14.
  • No Season 4 for the devilish drama.

ABC today cancelled Quantico after three seasons on the air. The sad news, which comes just three episodes into the drama's third-season run, is not much of a surprise considering its recent struggles in the ratings.
The hour-long series premiered in 2015 as one of the year's most-promising debuts, quickly becoming the #1 broadcast series on Sunday nights in the adults 18-49 demographic. Its early buzz quieted down somewhat by the end of Season 1, but its numbers still warranted a sophomore pickup. Season 2 saw its viewership slip further, and a move from Sundays to Mondays did little to change its fortunes. With Season 3 now hitting series lows, it makes sense that a fourth season would not be in the cards.
  • The FBI drama will not return for Season 4.

The rumors were true - Fox announced today that Last Man Standing is being revived and will return for a seventh season. The good news comes almost exactly one year after the Tim Allen comedy was cancelled by its original network, ABC.
Earlier this month, multiple outlets were reporting that Fox was interested in bringing back the popular sitcom. The network obviously heard the significant outcry from fans after ABC unexpectedly axed the series, which was still a solid performer at the time. The recent success story of Roseanne's revival quite possibly sped up efforts to bring the show back to appease a large fan base that obviously was not ready for it to end.
Last Man Standing will return for the 2018-2019 television season and is set to include most, if not all, of the original cast.
  • The comedy will return for Season 7.

ABC has reportedly cancelled Designated Survivor after two seasons. The sad news comes with only one episode remaining in the political drama's sophomore run, which will now act as its series ender.
The Kiefer Sutherland-led series premiered in 2016 as one of the network's best-performing new entries of the season, attracting a sizeable audience and even picking up Critics' Choice award. Viewers didn't stick around for long though, as its numbers dipped in Season 2 after the show's main plot wrapped up.
Designated Survivor marked Sutherland's first return to a TV starring role since his career-reviving role as Jack Bauer in Fox's 24 franchise. Sutherland plays a Cabinet member who is unexpectedly thrust into the role of President of the United States after a bombing at the Capitol kills a number of key government figures. After being sworn in as President, he starts to learn that the catastrophic attack was only the beginning of a much larger plan.
The series finale of Designated Survivor airs on May 16.
  • No Season 3 for the Kiefer Sutherland drama.

It is being reported that NBC has officially cancelled The Braveafter its 13-episode first season. The writing had already been on the wall since November, when the network opted not to order more episodes for the military drama's freshman run. But that doesn't make today's news any easier for the show's loyal fans who were holding out hope that the show might continue.
The hour-long series premiered last September and was a decent performer on Monday nights in the 10:00pm time slot. Unfortunately it was regularly bested by its competition, The Good Doctor, which brought in roughly double the viewers, both overall and in the key adults 18-49 demographic.
The Brave takes place in the world of America's elite undercover military operations. In D.C., a team of analysts utilize highly-advanced surveillance technology from their headquarters, while out in the field a Special Ops squad of expertly-trained undercover specialists risk it all as they execute dangerous missions behind enemy lines in the name of freedom and saving the lives of innocent people.
  • No Season 2 for the military drama.

It is being reported that Syfy has opted to cancel The Expanseafter its current third season. The space opera is midway through its final 13-episode run, which will conclude in July.
No decision was given as to why the cable network is ending the series, which draws a healthy audience and has received continued critical acclaim. Word is that the production company behind the show, Alcon Television Group, will be shopping it around to potential buyers with hopes of continuing its story.
Based on the novel series of the same name by Daniel Abraham, The Expanse takes place two hundred years in the future, with mankind having colonized the solar system. A hardened detective and a rogue ship's crew work together in a race across the solar system to expose a conspiracy that threatens the survival of humanity.
  • No Season 4 for the space drama.

It is being reported that Fox has canceled The Mick after two seasons. The sad news comes a month following the show's sophomore run, with the last episode on April 3 now acting as its series finale.
This season was The Mick's first on the network's regular fall schedule after starting out as a mid-season entry on New Years Day in 2017. The show wasted no time in putting up strong numbers that resulted in four episodes being added to its freshman run. Its good fortunes didn't last, though, as ratings tapered off during the second-half of Season 1 and further in Season 2.
The Mick stars It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Kaitlin Olson in her first leading role on network television. She plays Mickey - an overbearing hustler from Rhode Island who is unexpectedly given guardianship of her estranged sister's three high-maintenance children.
  • No Season 3 for the Kaitlin Olson comedy.

Word is out this afternoon that Fox has cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine after five seasons. The sad news comes with two episodes remaining until the comedy's now-series finale, which is scheduled to air on Sunday, May 20.
The half-hour series, which stars Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, has been a decent performer for the network over the course of its run, though slipping ratings in recent seasons has seen it perennially on-the-bubble come renewal time.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows an offbeat group of detectives and staff at the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department. The eclectic squad is led by Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain.
The show recently surpassed the 100-episode milestone and was the network's second-longest-running live-action comedy. It also won numerous awards over the years, including two Golden Globes in 2014.
  • The cop comedy will not return for Season 6.
