Downton Abbey is a British period drama television series. It first aired on ITV in the United Kingdom and Ireland on 26 September 2010 and on PBSin the United States on 9 January 2011 as part of the Masterpiece Classic anthology.
Following the announcement of "Downton Abbey" main cast member Maggie Smith (who plays as the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Madame Crawley) that she won't be reprising her role if even the hit British period drama gets another season. Which is due to begin airing in the U.K. through ITV this September 2015 and January 2016 in the U.S. via PBS channel.
