Happyish is an American dark satirical comedy-drama series about Thom Payne, who gets the gift of insignificance, and suspects his ED pills are interfering with his anti-depressants, leaving him without happiness. In a culture that reveres youth - a culture he helped create - he needs to figure out what his purpose is now that he's halfway to death and nobody cares what he thinks. It is being reported that the freshman series has been cancelled after its first season. The dark comedy premiered on Showtime in the spring to mixed reviews and lackluster viewership throughout its 10-episode run.
It was originally to star Philip Seymour Hoffman, but the actor passed away shortly after the original pilot episode was filmed. The show runners were forced back to the drawing board, re-casting the lead role and some of the other cast. Unfortunately the final product failed to resonate with audiences, cutting its time short after one season.
