TNT announced today that Major Crimes has been renewed for a sixth season. The good news comes in the midst of the veteran crime procedural's fifth season, which resumes February 22 with its remaining eight episodes.
Major Crimes got its start back in 2012 as a spin-off of The Closer. In four-plus years on the air, the series has done an impressive job as its successor, drawing consistently-strong viewership that ranks it as one of the most-watched shows on cable TV among total viewers as well in key demographics.
TNT has ordered 13 new episodes for Season 6 of The Closer. That matches its original order for the fifth and current season, though Season 5 was eventually topped up to 21.
