NBC announced today that Chicago Med has been renewed for a second season. The freshman spin-off will join the already-renewed Chicago Fire and Chicago PD in returning for the 2016-2017 television season. Fans of the Chicago series can also look forward to a fourth entry in the franchise, titled Chicago Law, that was recently put into development.
Along with picking up Chicago Med for a sophomore season, the network also extended its relationship with producer Dick Wolf today with a new 5-year deal that will keep him at NBCUniversal through 2020. Wolf has two successful franchises on the network with the Chicago series as well as Law & Order having both spawned multiple spin-offs.
