Showtime announced today that Shameless has been renewed for a ninth season. The pickup follows the drama's Season 8 premiere this past Sunday, which once again delivered impressive numbers with 1.86 million viewers (Live+same day). On top of that, the episode was actually its second-best rated premiere in its near-seven-year history.
The cable network's longest-running series, Shamelesscontinues to be creatively strong and draw solid, consistent viewership. The show also attracts a young-skewing audience, which is another big plus for such a long-running series.
William H. Macy stars in Shameless as a deadbeat alcoholic father of six children. He survives by relying on unlawful schemes while leaving his kids to fend for themselves.
Look for Season 9 of Shameless to premiere in late 2018.
