Keith Moon was an English musician best known as the drummer of the English rock group the Who. Who had a grimly ironic death, he overdosed on Clomethiazole pills that were prescribed to help him combat his alcoholism and in a macabre coincidence, the apartment where Moon died was the same one in which singer Mama Cass Elliot of the rock group The Mamas & the Papas had succumbed four years prior. If there were ever a good reason for a rock band to trash a hotel room, this sounds like it. He died September 7, 1978 at the age of 32. “There isn’t a film. That was all some weird fantasy going on somewhere. Look, we hopefully will do a Doctor Who film someday. It will be absolutely run by the Doctor Who production office in Cardiff. It will feature the same Doctor as on television," he assured EW. "It will not be a rebooted continuity. All of that would be insane.” Then Moffat delivered a speech not dissimilar from the famous "I am the Doctor!" speech the show's lead character delivered back in series 5: “So that whole proposal was not true, did not happen. I can say that with authority because, as far as the BBC is concerned, I’m the voice of Doctor Who. So if I say it, it’s true. The BBC own Doctor…

The trailer features clips from what looks like the first five episodes of the series. One taken from "Asylum of the Daleks," or example, features the Doctor (Matt Smith), Amy (Karen Gillan), and Rory (Arthur Darvill) surrounded by hundreds -- no, thousands -- of Daleks, arranged in what looks like an auditorium or colosseum. "You've got me," the Doctor says, angrily. "At long last, here I am!" The Daleks apparently decide to exile the Doctor and his companions to a snowy planet, where they meet a new friend. We get a glimpse of the second episode of the series, "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship," which features exactly what the title says. He's so excited that Amy has to drag…

Boss, while one of the best on TV, is a low-rated show that will have to work hard to get a third season. And while freshman period piece Magic City was renewed before its first season aired, its ratings are just as bad (if not worse) than Boss's. It too will have to work for a third season. So what does Starz have coming down the pipeline of original programming? Some pretty intriguing stuff, as it turns out. Five new series in various stages of development have been announced, and some of them actually sound really, really promising. First is Black Sails, an eight-episode pirate series headed up by Transformers director Michael Bay. With Bay's name attached, you prob…

Because it airs on Starz, a premium cable network, viewership for Boss was never going to be high. But the series managed to attract around half a million viewers (if that) throughout its first season. Compared to the 1.2 million viewers that Spartacus: Vengeance, another Starz series, averaged, Boss's viewership is paltry. Creator Farhad Safinia knows this fact, he informed reporters at the show's TCA panel on Thursday. "I am completely aware of what the numbers are and I'm heartbroken," he said. "There are so many great things about the show that I feel it deserves a larger audience." The series was renewed for a second season before the show even premiered, so fans o…

Tennessee Williams was an American playwright and author of many stage classics, and although a man named Williams was responsible for Sal Mineo’s death, another man named Williams was responsible for the launch of his career: Tennessee Williams. The Rose Tattoo provided Mineo with his first role on stage. (Natalie Wood was no stranger to Williams, either. She starred with Robert Redford in This Property Is Condemned, a Williams adaptation from 1966, as well as in a TV version of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with her husband Robert Wagner in 1976. Of course, appearing in a Tennessee Williams play in the latter half of the 20th Century was certainly not unusual. Williams dominated…

It was a long-anticipated episode that proved to be one of the best of the season, and left many fans wondering about how long it would take for Gaiman to come back to the show with another episode. The answer is, apparently, sooner than you'd think. According to some new spoilers released from DoctorWhoTV, Gaiman will be penning an episode of the season's second half. And while "The Doctor's Wife" was a quirky one-off story featuring an all-new villain, it appears Gaiman's next entry will feature one of the show's most famous monsters: the Cybermen. According to DoctorWhoTV, Gaiman's installment will "totally reimagine" the Cybermen, the great metallic monsters who la…

Marie Prevost was a Canadian-born film actress. Modern audiences tend to look back upon movie stars of an earlier age as somehow simpler and more innocent, untainted by the temptations and setbacks that visit contemporary celebrities. Anyone who investigates the back pages of an earlier Hollywood is sure to find that this isn’t the case. Take the story of Marie Prevost. Born in Canada, Mary Bickford Dunn moved to L.A. and made her movie debut in 1916. A couple of years later, she was signed on as one of Mack Sennett’s “Bathing Beauties.” No doubt dismayed by the similarity of her given name to one of the biggest stars in Hollywood (Mary Pickford), the comedy of Svengali r…

George Sanders was a Russian-born English film and television actor, singer-songwriter, music composer, and author. Some Hollywood deaths are bizarre because of tragic circumstances. Others are bizarre because of unfortunate accidents. Sometimes, it’s a combination of the two. The death of George Sanders is a different story altogether. Born in Russia to British parents, George Henry Sanders’ family returned to England at the outbreak of the Russian Revolution. After attending college, Sanders made the move into acting. He appeared in several British films before making the trip to Hollywood in the mid-‘30s. Sanders’ suave manners and plummy speaking voice made him an ins…

Referencing the network's hit zombie drama The Walking Dead in his comments, Ergen noted that most of their customers "live on farms and ranches" and apparently wouldn't want to watch AMC programming because of their rural location. The other metric the esteemed chairman used to determine viewer interest was his family, as Ergen couldn't recall anyone in his family ever watching "one second" of the other channels that were to be bundled with AMC, including IFC, WEtv, and Sundance. Regarding AMC's other critically-acclaimed series such as Mad Men and Breaking Bad, Ergen claimed that they weren't widely viewed by Dish's audience and that customers could go to iTunes and …
