  1. [imgleft] [/imgleft] "Dollhouse" is closing its doors for good, but from the looks of things Joss Whedon's show is going down fighting. Friday's (Jan. 29) series finale is called "Epitaph Two: Return," and as the title implies, it takes place in the ruined world portrayed in "Epitaph One," the show's first-season closer (seen only on DVD). FOX describes the finale this way: "Picking up from the events depicted in 'Epitaph One' ... and set in the year 2020, Echo and her surviving Dollhouse crew attempt to restore order to a devastating future world before mankind is eliminated." FOX has released three clips from the episode, which we present for your appetite-whettin…

  2. CBS announced today that Elementary will close out its run after its already-ordered seventh season. The news comes just days after the long-running crime procedural filmed the final scene of its now-series finale. Many saw the move coming, as the drama - at over 140 episodes - has recently felt like it was nearing the end of the road creatively. Its sixth season was also the first not to air in-season, instead being moved to the network's mid-season schedule where it aired from April through September. Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as famed British detective Sherlock Holmes, who takes residence in New York in order to deal with his addiction issues. While t…

FX confirmed today that Fargo will be returning for a fourth season. And while fans of the critically-acclaimed drama will surely be happy with the news of its return, they may not be too happy with the wait involved until it comes back. The cable network has given a fall 2019 time frame for when production will likely begin, which means a 2020 premiere is probable. Season 3 aired last spring, so that will be at least three years in between seasons. Some new information on Season 4 has been unveiled, the biggest of which is that Chris Rock has been cast in a lead role as the head of a crime family. The setting will be Kansas City, Missouri in the year 1950, as t…

The zombie drama, which began as a companion series to The Walking Dead, has continued to be a solid performer for the cable network. 5. It was announced today that Fear the Walking Dead has been picked up by AMC for a sixth season. Executive Producer Scott M. Gimple broke the good news during the show's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, just days ahead of this Sunday's mid-season finale. The zombie drama, which began as a companion series to The Walking Dead, has seen some significant changes over the past two seasons. The new showrunner duo of Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have altered its overall tone and storytelling style since Season 4, changing up the cast significantly as well. The show's timeline has also gotten closer to the mothership series, with two stars of The Walking Dead h…

  6. [imgleft] [/imgleft] "FlashForward" is going through another behind-the-scenes shakeup, with co-creator David S. Goyer stepping aside as showrunner. The ABC series, which premiered to big ratings but tailed off during its fall run, is in the midst of an on-air hiatus and will return March 18. Goyer will still be "involved" in the show and retain an executive producer credit, the showbiz trades report, but he won't be the person in charge of the day-to-day operations. Goyer's departure is the second showrunner change "FlashForward" has made in its short life. Mark Guggenheim joined the series after its pilot but left in October, ceding the reins to Goyer. ABC hasn't …

  7. Friday night has long been known as the place where good television goes to die, but "Fringe" is refusing to go quietly into that good night. When the series returns after the holidays, you can find Walter, Olivia, and Peter at 9 p.m. on Friday on FOX, right after "Kitchen Nightmares." In a new promotional trailer, the "Fringe" team pokes fun at the nay-sayers, acknowledging that historically, shows that get bumped to Friday don't tend to fare well when upfronts roll around in the spring. "Death! Delicious, strawberry flavored death!" rants Walter (John Noble) in a memorable clip that will forever haunt us. While showing us ominous clips about TV's graveyard, the pr…

  8. The two-minute teaser starts off (how else?) super creepy with Peter (Joshua Jackson) being woken up by a strange phone call. "I know this is going to sound crazy, but I just saw a woman disappear in front of my eyes. Her name was Olivia. She has a message for you. She's trapped in the other universe." Cue Peter rolling over to look at Fauxlivia (Anna Torv). We told you. Super creepy. We also see the real Olivia (Anna Torv, part two!) stuck in the parallel world trying her best to explain the situation after "Walternate" (John Noble) found out she now knows who she is: "My universe is not at war with yours. This all began because a man came over here to save a boy and 25 …

  9. It is being reported that Hulu has renewed Future Man for a third and final season. The move comes three months after the comedy's sophomore release on the streaming service. The decision to end the series comes just one day after Preacher announced the upcoming end to its run. Both shows are co-executive produced by Seth Rogen who just last week, along with Evan Goldberg, moved their content deal from Sony TV to Lionsgate. Future Man follows a despondent janitor who typically spends his nights playing video games. That is until his ordinary life is turned upside down when mysterious visitors recruit him for a mission to travel through time in order to prevent t…

  10. Prior to the season finale of "Boardwalk Empire" Sunday night (Dec. 5), HBO aired a 10-minute making-of/preview special for "Game of Thrones." It was the usual mix of teaser footage, behind-the-scenes info and talking heads with the cast and crew -- but it was also the first extended look fans have gotten at the show. The video -- which features interview segments with author George R.R. Martin, whose novels form the basis of the series, as well as creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss -- is at the end of the post. But we also wanted to share a few new photos HBO has posted of the cast. Up above is Sean Bean ("The Lord of the Rings") as Eddard "Ned" Stark, and below is L…

Epix announced today that Get Shorty will be returning for a third season. The good news comes two months after the dramedy's sophomore run, which once again made a good impression on critics and audiences alike. Based on Elmore Leonard's best-selling 1990 novel of the same name, Get Shorty follows Miles Daly, who works as the muscle for a Nevada crime ring. Wanting to broaden his horizons in an attempt win back his wife and daughter, he changes professions by becoming a movie producer with the help of a washed-up filmmaker. The cable network has ordered seven episodes of Get Shorty for Season 3, which is down from the 10 it received in Seasons 1 and 2. Look for…

  12. [imgleft] [/imgleft] Is "Glee" star Lea Michele's youthful-geriatric look as Rachel Berry worthy of an award? The Costume Designers Guild thinks it might be. The guild announced their nominees for their 12th annual awards, and "Glee" was among the nominated TV shows. Other shows nominated for their contemporary costuming include "Big Love," "Dancing With the Stars," "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" and "Ugly Betty." The awards -- which honor contemporary, period and fantasy costume design in films, TV and commercials -- will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Beverly Hilton. The full list of nominees: Excellence in Contemporary Fil…

  13. Amazon announced today that Goliath has been picked up for a fourth and final season. The legal drama, which comes from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, returned in October for Season 3 and is once again garnering generally-positive reviews. Goliath stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a washed up lawyer frequenting more bars than courtrooms. After agreeing to look into a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the powerful firm he helped create, Billy and his motley crew uncover a deadly conspiracy that finds them in a life-or-death trial with the odds stacked against them. Look for the final season of Goliath sometime in 2…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] ABC has finally cleared a space on the schedule for its drama "Happy Town." The series, a small-town mystery the network is comparing to "Twin Peaks," will premiere at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday, April 28. It will fill the spot currently held by "Ugly Betty," which will have completed its final season by then. ABC has ordered eight episodes of "Happy Town," which means it will likely run into the early part of the summer. "Happy Town" is the last of the six dramas ABC ordered last spring to get a premiere date. It takes place in the small town of Haplin, Minn., where a mysterious kidnapper resurfaces after several years, dredging up a whole bunch o…

It is being reported that Syfy has cancelled Happy! after two seasons. The not-so-happy news comes just days after the drama's sophomore finale, which now acts as its series-ender. The show was generally well-received over the course of its run, amassing a core fanbase appreciative of its unique concept and gritty storytelling that stayed true to the source material on which it is based. But its ratings took a hit in Season 2, dipping to levels that likely sealed its fate. Adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, Happy! stars Christopher Meloni as a corrupt ex-cop who now works as a hit man who spends his days intoxicated and adrift in a world of casual …

  16. A recent update on PostSecret, the addictive site where people anonymously share their secrets via postcard, claims that one of the male cast members of the Harry Potter movies is the unknowing father of a child. The postcard (above) features pictures of Jason Isaacs, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Oliver and James Phelps, Tom Felton and Alan Rickman and the following handwritten text: "One of these men is the father of the most amazing little girl in the world. He's never met her, he never will. He probably can't even remember my name." Felton, 23, and the Phelps twins, 24, took to Twitter to laugh off the postcard. Wrote Felton after sharing a Twitpic of the postcard: …

  17. That last bit of holiday imagery comes courtesy of "Hawaii Five-0", which on Monday (Dec. 13) will welcome back a nemesis from earlier in the season and place a member of the team in serious jeopardy. The episode is called "Hana 'a'a Makehewa" (per CBS, that's Hawaiian for "Desperate Measures"). Five-0 is called in to a hostage situation, during which Victor Hesse (returning guest James Marsters) resurfaces -- looking not even a little bit dead after getting beat up by McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and taking a tumble into the water in the series premiere. The team member in jeopardy, as you can see in the preview below, is Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim), who somehow winds up …

  18. Spoilers ahoy for those who haven't watched yet. The last episode of 2010 brought back the season's original bad guy, introduced an even badder guy in Wo Fat and -- most important -- started to mine some of the back story for both McGarrett and Chin Ho. "Five-0" isn't suddenly going to turn into "Lost," but after 10 post-pilot episodes of crime-investigation-local color-banter-case closed, some hint of an ongoing story line is very much welcome. The episode, "Hana 'a'a Makehewa," re-introduced Victor Hesse (James Marsters), who somehow survived being shot by McGarrett and falling into the water at the end of the pilot. He manages to cold-cock Chin Ho and place an explosiv…

  19. The cable channel has picked up its freshman drama series "Hell on Wheels" for a second season. There's no official word yet, but Deadline reports a deal is done. Word from AMC is likely to come next week. The series, centered around the building of the transcontinental railroad in the years after the Civil War, had a big opening in November, scoring 4.4 million viewers for its premiere. That was the second-biggest premiere for an original series in AMC's history, behind only "The Walking Dead." Its ratings have fallen some since then, but it typically draws better than 2 million viewers per week, which is a pretty good number for AMC. "Hell on Wheels" stars Anso…

  20. "America's Next Top Model", which will begin Cycle 16 on February 23, will now be followed by the new weight-loss reality show, "Shedding for the Wedding," hosted by Sara Rue. "Life Unexpected," which is unlikely to return for a third season, will take a bow on January 18 with a special 2-hour finale event after reaching a ratings high last week. Find the full detailed schedule below. Tuesday, January 18 8:00-10:00 p.m. Life Unexpected (Season Finale) Monday, January 24 8:00-9:00 p.m. 90210 (Original Episodes Return) 9:00-10:00 p.m. Gossip Girl (Original Episodes Return) Tuesday, January 25 8:00-9:00 p.m. One Tree Hill (Original Episodes Return) 9:00-10:00 p.m. Hellcats (…

  21. Zap2it confirms that AJ has been tapped for a recurring role on her sister's series, Hellcats. AJ, who recently appeared in Disney's "Secretariat," will make her CW debut in the second half of the season as a girl who works at a record store near Lancer University. Of course, Aly and AJ are in a band together called 78violet - which was previously known simply as "Aly and AJ." When AJ's character befriends Marti, a musical connection is made, and The CW tells us that "a musical performance with the two is very likely." When Zap2it spoke with Aly at the Television Critics Association press tour over the summer, she told us that despite "Hellcats" filming in Vancouver, she…

  22. [imgleft] [/imgleft] Greg Grunberg has promised that the fourth season finale of Heroes will be "dark". The 43-year-old actor, who plays Matt Parkman on the NBC series, told DS that his alter-ego will once again do battle with Zachary Quinto's Sylar. "The remaining episodes this season, Matt gets very dark," he said. "He tries once and for all to take care of Sylar. Some would say he does succeed. "It's really dark, and he almost gets possessed in his obsession with ending this chapter of his life. I hope it's gonna scare people and they see a side of Matt Parkman they've never seen." He added that when he read the scripts for the remaining episodes, he found …

  23. It looks as if the end of Homeland is near. In an interview with Howard Stern earlier today, star Claire Danes appeared to confirm that the long-running drama will indeed not continue past next season - the show's eighth. Stern was first to bring up the fact that Homeland would be coming to a close next year, and Danes concurred, responding simply with, "yeah, that's it." The news doesn't come as a complete surprise, as showrunner Alex Gansa has gone on the record in the past about likely wrapping things up in Season 8. The series was last picked up in 2016, when two additional seasons were ordered at the same time as part of an overall deal with Fox 21 TV Stud…

  24. Netflix confirmed today that the upcoming sixth and final season of House of Cards will be going ahead without any involvement from Kevin Spacey. The already-ordered season appeared to be in jeopardy after its star had allegations of sexual misconduct levied against him, resulting in a suspension of production in late October. With Spacey now removed from the veteran political drama, the final eight-episode season will proceed with Robin Wright in the lead - but it may be some time before its release. Production is not set to begin until sometime in 2018, which could mean a premiere either late in the year or even in 2019. Premiering in 2013, House of Cards was …

  25. [imgleft] [/imgleft] Ted's story of "How I Met Your Mother" will continue for at least another year. CBS has given the comedy an early pickup for the 2010-11 season, the network confirms to Zap2it. The news comes on the heels of series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas signing a new deal with "HIMYM" producer 20th Century Fox TV, which secures their services for three more years and includes new development as well as the current show. The early renewal is something of a changeup for "How I Met Your Mother," whose renewal has been left to the last minute more than once in its five-season life. The show, however, has earned solid ratings so far this season as the…
