[imgleft] [/imgleft] The last-minute shelving of FOX's game show "Our Little Genius" and next week's State of the Union address could end up being a good thing for "Human Target." The president's annual address to Congress and the country will air at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 27. All of the big four broadcast networks (along with PBS and the cable news channels) will air it live, resulting in the usual schedule tweaking on the nets' part. FOX had scheduled "Human Target" for 8 o'clock on the 27th, followed by an "American Idol's" Los Angeles auditions episode. Instead, though, both shows will move to Tuesday, Jan. 26, with "Idol" at 8 leading into "Human Target" …

[imgleft] [/imgleft] There are no huge mysteries at the core of "Human Target," no deep back story that's going to require a whole lot of pondering and unpacking after every episode. And that's more than all right. What "Human Target" does have a whole lot of is fun. It's a somewhat old-fashioned and pretty kick-ass hour of TV, with great action sequences in the first two episodes and, probably more important, well-turned performances by its three regulars: Mark Valley, Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley. The show is based on the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name and stars Valley as Christopher Chance, a hyper-competent private security expert who's called in to pro…

There will be no fourth season of AMC and Channel 4 series Humans. The news was posted on social media by creators Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, who expressed their sadness about it ending, as well as their gratitude for the fans and those that worked on the show. It has been nearly one year since its third and now-final season aired. Co-produced by AMC in the states and Channel 4 in Britain, Humans takes place in a world where highly intelligent consumer-level androids, aka synths, are commonplace in society. They are so similar to their live counterparts that the technology is drastically transforming people's lives - in both good ways and bad. View …

AMC announced today that Into the Badlands will not continue past its current third season. The news was somewhat expected, as it has been nearly two years since its last renewal and the cable network has been mum regarding its future during that time. The martial arts drama premiered in 2015 with a six-episode run that fared well, garnering generally positive reviews and solid ratings. An expanded 10-episode season followed in 2017, but saw weakening viewership despite continued critical praise. Season 3 debuted last year with an even larger order of 16 episodes, but with audience numbers falling even further, the likelihood of a fourth season became less and less o…

ABC has reportedly ordered three additional episodes for the first season of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. The freshman drama premiered last month and is six episodes into its run. Jason Ritter stars as the titular character, Kevin Finn, who is a self-absorbed man down on his luck and on a perilous path to despair. When he heads back home to stay with his twin sister and niece, an unlikely celestial being appears to him and tasks him with a mission to save the world, giving Kevin a new purpose in life. While reviews have leaned to the positive side, the show has struggled to find an audience on Tuesday nights at 10:00pm. Episodes regularly fall behind its ti…

Fox announced today that Last Man Standing will be returning for an eighth season. The good news, which comes on the eve of its 150th episode, marks the comedy's first renewal at its new network. The Tim Allen series was cancelled back in 2017 after six seasons at its original home on ABC. It took some time, but a year later Fox decided to revive the show for the 2018-2019 season. The move has been paying off for the network, as since its return Last Man Standing has been garnering healthy ratings on Friday nights, currently ranking as Fox's third-best scripted original in Live+7 viewing. Last Man Standing follows Mike Baxter, a man's man who works as a marketin…

The CW announced today that DC's Legends of Tomorrow has been renewed for a fifth season. The superhero drama, which has continued to be a reliable and steady performer for the network on Monday nights, is currently in a mid-season break with the second-half of Season 4 returning in April. Premiering in 2016 as an ensemble series featuring characters spun-off from Arrow and The Flash, the show takes place in the same shared DC Comics universe but with a time travel twist. While earlier seasons saw the legends taking part in crossover episodes with its sister shows, it has recently been staying in its own contained storylines. The CW renewed all five of its DC su…

FX announced today that Legion has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes with two episodes remaining in the superhero drama's sophomore run, which comes to a close on June 12. Legion is one the latest Marvel Comics-based entries on television and was the first of its kind on a cable network, after other Marvel-based fare found success in recent years on both broadcast TV and Netflix. While its viewership took a hit in Season 2, the show continued to garner widespread critical acclaim for its unique take on the genre. The series follows a man diagnosed with schizophrenia who comes to realize that the voices he hears and the visions he sees are th…

Last week, the whole gang's Thanksgiving was interrupted by the Portland police bursting in to take Tasha (Ksenia Solo) into custody after she hit Trey, Lux's former foster father. When the state department decides to press charges against Tasha, the whole family rallies around her to support her. When Zap2it last spoke to Britt Robertson, she told us firmly that despite her recent preoccupation with Eric (Shawn Sipos), Tasha is still one of the most important people in Lux's life. "They're each other's beginning," Robertson says. "Tasha's the one person in Lux's life that I think she really, really, completely trusts. She's been Lux's family since she was seven years ol…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] In celebration of the final season of "Lost" premiering Tuesday, Feb. 2 on ABC, iTunes has launched character playlists. We're curious as whether or not you guys think these lists fit the characters. We happen to think Kate's fits the best, plus it's also our personal favorite list of songs. We also would've included "Born to Run" for her. Kate's Tracks: LOST EP: A fugitive on the run, the strong-willed Kate Austen has a tumultuous past. 1. "Cherry Bomb" (The Runaways) 2. "Crazy" (Patsy Cline) 3. "Jack of All Parades" (Elvis Costello) 4. "(I Know) I'm Losing You" (Rod Stewart) 5. "Another Nail in My Heart" (Squeeze) 6. "Bad M…

It is being reported that Fox has made some scheduling changes to Lucifer, and will be moving the final four episodes of its current sophomore season to be part of Season 3. The result of that decision will see Season 2's tally drop from 22 episodes down to 18. It's not all bad news though, as the four episodes being shifted to next season are said to be mostly standalone in nature and will not play a big part in the ongoing storyline. The five remaining episodes in Season 2 begin airing on May 1, with the season finale scheduled for May 29. View full article

Netflix announced today that Lucifer has been picked up for a fifth and final season that will conclude its story. It will be the first and only renewal for the series at the streaming service after being revived just last year. Originally cancelled by Fox in 2018 days before its Season 3 finale, Lucifer saw a strong outpouring of fan support once the word got out. Producer Warner Bros. Television immediately made it known that they were shopping the series around to other outlets, and the following month they reached a deal with Netflix for a fourth season. Based on a character from DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, the hour-long series follows Lucifer Morningstar, w…

Here's the statement from HBO: "It is with heartbreak that executive producers David Milch and Michael Mann together with HBO have decided to cease all future production on the series LUCK. "Safety is always of paramount concern. We maintained the highest safety standards throughout production, higher in fact than any protocols existing in horseracing anywhere with many fewer incidents than occur in racing or than befall horses normally in barns at night or pastures. While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen, and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future. Accordingly, we have reached this difficult decision. …

Another hero has fallen at Netflix. The streaming service confirmed this evening that Luke Cage has been cancelled after two seasons. The news comes just one week after fellow superhero drama Iron Fist was given the ax - also after its second season. The reasons behind the recent moves are unclear, but seem to indicate that Netflix might be looking to taper back on their Marvel-related original content. Remaining active series include Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Daredevil, which just released its third season today. It is not clear if the Luke Cage or Iron Fist characters will make any appearances in the other shows' upcoming seasons. Luke Cage followed the…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] "MacGyver" creator Lee Zlotoff wants to stop the new "Saturday Night Live" skit-turned-movie "MacGruber" from seeing theaters. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Zlotoff, who created the 1985-1992 ABC "MacGyver" series, is sending cease-and-desist letters to executives at Relativity Media, the company responsible for the "MacGruber" movie, hitting theaters in April. Apparently, Zlotoff retained the rights to the "MacGyver" franchise and a movie version of the popular Richard Dean Anderson television show is in the works (though there is no word as to whether Anderson will be involved), so Zlotoff and his lawyers feel they might have a case of cop…

CBS announced today that Madam Secretary will be coming to an end after its upcoming sixth season. The news comes a week after the veteran political drama was picked up for the 2019-2020 season. The network has ordered 10 episodes for the show's final run, which is by far its shortest to-date. The advanced notice beats an abrupt cancellation, and gives showrunners the chance to prepare a suitable end to the story. The political drama, which stars Téa Leoni as the Secretary of State, has seen its ratings decline considerably the past few years but has remained a Sunday night staple nevertheless. The series surpassed the 100-episode milestone earlier this season. …

It is being reported that Magnum P.I. has been added to the list of new shows to receive a full season order from CBS. The network has topped up its freshman run with an unspecified number of episodes, said to be somewhere in the range of seven. The new series, which is an updated take on the classic 1980s action drama, premiered in late September and has been a decent performer on Monday nights through its first four episodes. Critical reception has been mixed, with some reviewers unsure of its ability to live up to its source material. Magnum P.I. follows security consultant Thomas Magnum, who works as a private investigator in Hawaii making a name for himself…

ABC announced today that Modern Family has been renewed for an 11th and final season. The good news follows recent word that the entire cast has agreed to new deals to return to the veteran series for its final run. The award-winning comedy has been one of the network's strongest performers during its time on the air. While current ratings are not at the level of its heyday, it remains one of ABC's highest-rated scripted entries. The number of episodes planned for the final season is not yet known, though it will likely fall within the typical 18-22 range. Look for a return this fall. View full article

Ty Burrell says that we can look forward to his character Phil Dunphy and wife Claire (Julie Bowen) getting amorous, but we're not the only ones to witness the action. "This week we're taping an episode where the kids walk in on us while we're having sex," tells Ty. "It's a full 22-minute sex scene. Actually, it's sitcom sex, definitely appropriate." We didn't really expect ABC to go too racy with their Emmy-winning show with "family" in the title, but we do expect the subject to turn to the birds and the bees. "There's a difficult chat with the kids," Burrell confirms. "Phil comes through with shining colors as usual." Burrell won't be getting quite that much action on …

He's not talking about himself. O'Neill was the only adult member of the show's cast not nominated for an Emmy, but the winner in his category -- outstanding supporting actor in a comedy -- was one of his castmates,Eric Stonestreet. O'Neill does, however, think that his on-screen wife, Sofia Vergara, deserved the comedy supporting actress over Jane Lynch of "Glee." "I love Jane, honestly I do," O'Neill told a group of international reporters at a recent press conference, according to TV Guide Canada. "I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part. [Her character Sue Sylvester] is just …

"The Oregon Ducks are on the verge of potentially going to the national championship game so we're all on pins and needles," the sitcom star tells Zap2it. Burrell is an Oregon native and has a keen interest in the outcome of the classic Civil War game Saturday (Dec. 4) between historic rivals the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Offense has been the name of the game for the Ducks this season, and this game will determine their advancement to the national championship. For Burrell, the more critical the game, the more he wants to watch it either alone or with family who are as passionate as he is about his teams. "My mom is the same way. My…

It is being reported that Mr. Robot will be coming to an end after its already-announced fourth season. The news comes more than eight months since the drama was picked up for Season 4, along with word that fans will be waiting until 2019 for new episodes to return. The cable drama will be ending a run that was never considered a ratings success, but one that garnered plenty of praise from both critics and its core fan base. Despite its small audience, USA Network stuck with series, likely valuing the fact that it picked up its share of awards, including a win for Best Drama at the 2016 Golden Globes. Mr. Robot follows a young, anti-social programmer who works a…

The CW has topped up the rookie run of Nancy Drew, adding an additional nine episodes to its original order of 13. That gives the mystery drama a total of 22 episodes for a full first season. The series premiered earlier this month and has been garnering so-so ratings and reviews in the early goings. It is the latest iteration of a televised version of the mystery book series that originated in the 1930s. Nancy Drew is led by newcomer Kennedy McMann, who plays the 18-year-old titular detective. In the series, the recent high school grad is looking forward to heading off to college, but her plans are put on hold when she is one of the witnesses - and prime suspec…

In "All the Way," Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) gets yet another chance at a mission. For a recruit, she sure does get into the field a lot. She's posing as a photographer and the assistant to a wedding planner, but really she's supposed to get to the leader of a crime syndicate. As usual, Nikita (Maggie Q) helps her from the outside, but the mission is compromised in a surprising way, causing some desperate measures to be taken. We don't want to spoil too much of what will happen, but certain information (and photos) have been released that we feel comfortable teasing a few things now that we've watched our advance screener. For those who'd prefer their viewing experience to re…
