The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer is recovering from surgery to replace both of his hips. Joel, 61, underwent surgery last week to correct a congenital condition and is "doing extremely well," his spokeswoman tells People. Joel toured earlier this year, but he's been slowed by the condition in his hips -- he's been walking with a cane in recent weeks -- and opted to have them both replaced in one operation. There's no word yet on when he'll be able to perform again. We wish him a smooth recovery. He died in a New York City hospital of complications after minor surgery, according to a CBS statement released on Saturday. Rooney was 92. In a 2010 interview with USA TODAY, he was asked about retiring and shot back his own question: "Retire? From what? Life?" He allowed that "I suppose the time may come." It did on Oct. 2, when he delivered his 1,097th and final essay, telling his viewers, "I've done a lot of complaining here, but of all the things I've complained about, I can't complain about my life." 60 Minutes didn't replace him with another essayist — perhaps the ultimate compliment. A former war correspondent, he wrote 16 books — from Air Gunner (1944), an accoun…

Can any of us really predict how we'd act under such extreme circumstances? In Sunday's (Nov. 28) episode "Wildfire," Shane (Jon Bernthal) considers breaking at least one of the Commandments -- on top of the whole "commit adultery" and "coveting thy neighbor's wife" ones, anyway. So yeah, Shane apparently has coveting issues. He's coveting Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) family hard, and killing him with friendly fire could be the answer to regaining that makeshift family Shane once had. It's pretty sad, really. Shane, not to prey on the weak, but Andrea (Laurie Holden) just lost her sister. Instead of trying to steal someone's family, why not try to offer support where it's nee…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] "Psych" stars James Roday and Dule Hill were scheduled to guest host "WWE Monday Night RAW" on Monday (Jan. 25), but only Hill was actually on hand. Turns out Roday had an appendectomy on Saturday and was unable to make the hosting gig. News that he would be missing the "WWE" show was broken during a promotional chat with Hill and wrestler John Cena earlier in the day. What does an appendectomy get you from a bunch of wrestlers? A Get Well Soon card or a lot of teasing? The new season of "Psych" premieres this Wednesday on USA and will feature Cena. Good thing it was filmed months ago, or there may have been some payback. Her first comments came on Friday (Nov. 25) and appear to be at the expense of her soon-to-be ex-husband. Demi, who inexplicably still uses the Twitter name of "MrsKutcher.", writes "Why do we have only 1 day for giving thanks? Is that why so many people feel unappreciated? Make this 1 of 365 days of Thanksgiving!". In 2010, we started hearing tales of Ashton’s extramarital affairs. First it was Brittany Jones, who claimed she and Ashton “made love on the couch” one day when Demi wasn’t home. Then, earlier this year, we learned that Ashton got drunk and had sex with another woman, Sara Leal, who subsequently sold her story to Us Magazine, so it's entirely possible that th…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] We know what you're thinking. Matt just left for Botswana and Betty is already hopping into someone else's arms? We have to admit, Betty has been known to be that girl. ABC confirms to Zap2it that 'Mad Men's' resident pushover will be appearing on "Ugly Betty" this season. In contrast to Matt, Sommer will play a working class fireman who hopes to extinguish the flame Matt left behind. The role may be recurring if the chemistry is right, since he'll be taking Betty on a disastrous first date. Before you judge Betty too harshly, it's not like she kissed Matt goodbye and then immediately hitched a ride on a fire engine. Sommer's episode is set to a…

ABC and Canada's Global Television have renewed drama Rookie Blue for a fourth season. The cop series has gained a loyal following during its summer airings since debuting in June 2010. Like last season's pickup, the news comes just a few episodes into the show's current season. Although the number of episodes is not known at this time, expect Season 4 of Rookie Blue to be its typical 13, which has been the standard for all three seasons so far. A Summer 2013 return is also expected. (Source: TV Guide) Click here to view the article

Fans of The Expanse can breathe a sigh of relief tonight, as Amazon has saved the critically-acclaimed space opera from cancellation. The outpouring from fans was quite substantial after they got wind that Syfy was passing on a fourth season of their favorite show. A #SaveTheExpanse campaign quickly gained momentum, including an online petition with over 130,000 signatures and a GoFundMe page which paid for an airplane banner that was flown over Amazon Studios in Santa M…

William Lester Suff, also known as the Riverside Prostitute Killer, and the Lake Elsinore Killer, is an American serial killer. Between 1986 and 1992, he murdered at least twelve prostitutes in Riverside, California. In 1995, a jury found that the unassuming-looking middle-aged man had picked up street walkers in his van, then strangled or knifed them, and proceeded to do unsettling things with their corpses. His conviction appeared to bring to a close a six year-long manhunt for the so-called “Riverside Prostitute Killer” wanted in connection with the slayings of 19 prostitutes. Riverside’s long search for the prostitute killer led to Suff’s arrest. On January 9, 1992, p…

The Showtime thriller is switching out Season 5's showrunner with Scott Buck going into the sixth season. He used to write and produce for "Six Feet Under," which also starred Michael C. Hall. [Deadline] CBS has friended Rita Wilson and F. Murray Abraham. The two will visit "The Good Wife" for a February episode that's inspired by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and "The Social Network." [EW] "Eden" has been populated. Little is known of Enriqueta Martí i Ripollés before she arrived in Barcelona in the early years of the 19th Century. What is known is that she did not arrive alone. She brought with her a brutal penchant for survival and an equally fierce desire to rise above a poverty that she would soon sadistically twist to her advantage. She preyed on young children from Barcelona’s destitute Raval Quarter. She would prostitute them to the pedophiles and deviants who had for so long protected and frequented her brothels. She could at once appear impoverished, dressed in rags to entice her prey and then as evening fell, attend the lavish galas of the El Liceu (Barcelona Opera House) a…

Bill Cosby admits, in a 2005 deposition, that he obtained Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women in order to have sex, and that he gave the sedative to at least one woman. The Associated Press went to court to compel the release of the documents, which have since been made public. Lawyer Dolores M. Troiani asked in September 2005, "When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?" Cosby answered, "Yes." The comedian had been testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee and said that he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl. That…

[imgleft] [/imgleft]Jimmy Kimmel really took Jay Leno to task on Thursday's 10 @ 10 segment on "The Jay Leno Show". After confessing that at night he only watches "Oprah," Jimmy Kimmel finds any way he can to take a jab at Jay Leno and the NBC late night mess. Regarding his Leno impression: "I hate to give away my secrets, but it's part Sylvester the Cat it's part Curly from the "Three Stooges" and part Scrappy Doo ... silly putty to make yourself a nice Dudley Do-Right chin." His ideal interview: I'd like to do 12 @ 12 with you tomorrow night because I have lots of questions. Best prank Jimmy Kimmel ever pulled: "I told a guy that five years from now I'm gon…

Lucifer fans can rejoice today, as Netflix has reportedly picked up the drama for a fourth season. The move continues the recent trend of revivals, proving that in the 2018 television landscape, the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure" is more true than ever. Originally cancelled by Fox a month ago, just days before its Season 3 finale, Lucifer quickly became a prime contender for revival after a strong outpouring of fan support. A #SaveLucifer campaign quickly gained traction online as other popular recently-cancelled shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Expanse found homes on new networks. Lucifer's producer, Warner Bros. Television, immediately made…

Racist tweets bring an end to comedy's biggest comeback. Just two months after picking up Roseanne for an 11th season, ABC has reversed the move. The cancellation comes after show star Roseanne Barr took to Twitter with a series of racist and anti-semitic posts. The most offending being a now-deleted tweet calling adviser to former President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, an offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.” The backlash that followed was immediate and intense, with numerous celebrities and pundits speaking out against her remarks. Barr subsequently apologized, calling the tweet a joke, but it was too late. The damage had been done.…

It was announced on Wednesday that John Barrowman would be joining the cast as a “well-dressed man” who is “as mysterious as he is wealthy … he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City," according to Entertainment Weekly, who broke the news. The role will be a recurring one. The DC Universe is filled to the brim with mysterious wealthy men, and since my knowledge of those men is limited to Bruce Wayne, I'll leave speculation on the comic counterpart of Barrowman's new character to the more qualified comic book experts. EW speculates that Barrowman will be playing Stanley Dover Sr., who in the comics tries to use his son's pet mons…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] NBC still hasn't officially said anything about the resolution to its late-night situation, but the man who's in all likelihood headed back to "The Tonight Show" has decided to speak up. On "The Jay Leno Show" Monday night (Jan. 18), Leno went beyond cracking jokes about the network's late-night mess -- though he did some of those too -- to give his assessment of the situation. He devoted much of the show's second segment to it. Here's what he said: "Let's start in 2004 -- 2004 I'm sitting in my office, an NBC executive comes in and says to me, listen, Conan O'Brien has gotten offers from other networks. We don't want him to go, so we're going …

[imgleft] [/imgleft] The young lawyers of "The Deep End" are bright, ambitious, attractive, neurotic, scared, prone to sleeping with co-workers and in awe of/deeply afraid of their bosses. In other words, they're almost exactly like the doctors of "Grey's Anatomy" circa season one, but with suits instead of scrubs. And that's the chief issue with "The Deep End," which premieres at 8 p.m. ET Thursday (Jan. 21), just before "Grey's": Despite being populated with likable actors giving mostly solid performances, it's hard to escape the feeling that you've seen this before. I'm hopeful that will change in the future, that the show will find a more specific voice and set …
