[imgleft]http://ewausiello.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/the-oc_l.jpg?w=300&h=400[/imgleft] Julie Cooper’s comin’ to Mystic Falls! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Vampire Diaries has tapped the inimitable Melinda Clarke (The O.C., CSI) to play Kelly Donovan, Matt’s irresponsible, hard-drinking absentee mother. How rotten is this woman? She didn’t even bother to show up to her own daughter’s funeral. (In other words, my kind of gal!) I’m told Clark’s scenery-chewing boozehound will blow into town in March and stick around for at least three episodes. Memo to Kevin Williamson: Let’s get that series regular paperwork started now! Chester D. Turner is no stranger to murder or the punishment that comes with it. He squeezed the life out of more than a dozen women during a decade of terror, and two juries decided he should die for his crimes. So it was merely a formality Friday that Turner, already on death row for 10 murders, was given four more death sentences for what a prosecutor called the city's most prolific serial killing. Turner, 47, looked straight at Judge Robert Perry as he handed down the penalty for the string of inner-city killings during the crack cocaine epidemic. As Turner was led from court, he cursed at the prosecution and said, "I'll be back." Turner is one of at least three men b…

[imgleft] [/imgleft] The last-minute shelving of FOX's game show "Our Little Genius" and next week's State of the Union address could end up being a good thing for "Human Target." The president's annual address to Congress and the country will air at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 27. All of the big four broadcast networks (along with PBS and the cable news channels) will air it live, resulting in the usual schedule tweaking on the nets' part. FOX had scheduled "Human Target" for 8 o'clock on the 27th, followed by an "American Idol's" Los Angeles auditions episode. Instead, though, both shows will move to Tuesday, Jan. 26, with "Idol" at 8 leading into "Human Target" …

[imgleft] [/imgleft]Way to go, kids! It's all your fault that Heroes will be canceled! Well, not really, but you're pushing it. According to the blog TorrentFreak, which reports on the Internet black market known as file-sharing, NBC's Heroes was the most illegally downloaded television show of 2009. The stat shouldn't be taken as gospel, however, as the site merely lists the number of downloads for a show's most popular episode and not its entire season run (not to mention that it's tough to swallow empirical data from a site with "freak" in its name). Still, TorrentFreak claims that the most-pirated episode of Heroes (the particulars of the episode were not disclosed…

The filmmaker posted a first-look photo to the official "Twilight Saga" Facebook fan page Thursday (Nov. 25) with the following message: "Happy Thanksgiving and a crazy Black Friday to all of you and yours." Spoilers! If you haven't read the books and don't know what's in store for Bella, it's best to stop reading now. As you can see, the pic is of an arm amongst some scattered feathers, but it's much more than that, right? As we know from the books, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Rob Pattinson) are officially married and go on their honeymoon at the beginning of "Breaking Dawn." What we see is the aftermath of that honeymoon night because Bella, being human and all…

RIP Marv. On the special two-hour season finale of "Burn Notice" Thursday, Dec. 16 (beginning an hour earlier at 9 p.m. ET), Brennan (Jay Karnes) -- who was last seen in the back of a car with men who had just killed Marv (Richard Kind) -- is trying to put the pressure on Mike (Jeffrey Donovan) to take out some government agents. The wounds, they're still fresh, so Mike is really not happy with this request. But Brennan has the flash drive with the list of burners and is threatening to release some data. Hmm. You know what also sucks? Larry (Tim Matheson) is pro-killing too. Let's see how this argument plays out: ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"…

Netflix announced today that Altered Carbon has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes nearly six months after the release of its 10-episode freshman run, which garnered a generally positive reception for both audiences and critics. Based on novels by Richard K. Morgan, the science fiction drama takes place hundreds of years in the future, in a society that has been transformed by technology in completely new ways. Human bodies are interchangeable and consciousness can be digitized and transferred from body to body, making death a temporary inconvenience. Takeshi Kovacs, played by Joel Kinnaman in Season 1, is the lone surviving soldier in a group…

ABC announced today that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been given an early pickup for a seventh season. The good news comes just six months after the drama was renewed for Season 6, which itself isn't due to air until 2019. The veteran series premiered in 2013 and is the longest-running show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At over 100 episodes, its lengthy run has been impressive and looks to continue for at least the next couple of years. Like most shows of this age, its current ratings leave a lot to be desired, but its core audience still tunes in in decent enough numbers to keep it going in its Friday night time slot, where it moved last season from i…

AMC announced today that The Terror will be returning for a second season. The good news follows a solid debut outing this past spring that garnered critical acclaim and healthy viewership. The show is the cable network's first to follow an anthology format, where each new season focuses on a contained story in a new setting with a different cast. While its first season followed the perilous voyage of the British Royal Navy in the 1800s, Season 2 will take place during World War II, this time following a mysterious specter that terrorize a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific. FX confirmed today that Fargo will be returning for a fourth season. And while fans of the critically-acclaimed drama will surely be happy with the news of its return, they may not be too happy with the wait involved until it comes back. The cable network has given a fall 2019 time frame for when production will likely begin, which means a 2020 premiere is probable. Season 3 aired last spring, so that will be at least three years in between seasons. Some new information on Season 4 has been unveiled, the biggest of which is that Chris Rock has been cast in a lead role as the head of a crime family. The setting will be Kansas City, Missouri in the year 1950, as t…

Friday night has long been known as the place where good television goes to die, but "Fringe" is refusing to go quietly into that good night. When the series returns after the holidays, you can find Walter, Olivia, and Peter at 9 p.m. on Friday on FOX, right after "Kitchen Nightmares." In a new promotional trailer, the "Fringe" team pokes fun at the nay-sayers, acknowledging that historically, shows that get bumped to Friday don't tend to fare well when upfronts roll around in the spring. "Death! Delicious, strawberry flavored death!" rants Walter (John Noble) in a memorable clip that will forever haunt us. While showing us ominous clips about TV's graveyard, the pr…

The New York Post says the show's high-tech stunts went "completely awry," including wires dropping on the audience, scenery missing pieces and the show's star Natalie Mendoza was suspended helplessly in midair during the climatic end to Act I. As Mendoza finished the number "Rise Above" while suspended over the audience, a wire malfunction left her there -- for seven or eight minutes, while stagehands worked to figure out the problem. In the first act alone, the show was halted four times for technical difficulties. At one point, Spider-Man himself (Reeve Carney) was left dangling above the stage as backstage crew members leapt at his feet to haul him back down to earth…

It is being reported that CBS All Access will not be ordering a second season of One Dollar. The news does not come as much of a surprise, as the mystery thriller never really generated any substantial buzz despite garnering fairly positive critical praise. The streaming series was set in a post-recession rust-belt American town, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connected a group of people involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the bill paints a picture of a modern American town with deep divides among culture and class that rear their heads as the town's secrets are revealed. With today's move, One Dollar becomes the first scripted series on …

In 1861, Herman Webster Mudgett was born in New Hampshire. It is said that at an early age he was fascinated with skeletons and soon became obsessed with death. It may have been this interest that led him to pursue medicine. After graduating high school at 16, Mudgett changed his name to Henry Howard Holmes, and later in life would be known as H.H. Holmes. Holmes studied medicine at a small school in Vermont before being accepted into the University of Michigan Medical School. While enrolled in medical school, Holmes stole cadavers from the laboratory, burned or disfigured them, and then planted the bodies making it look as if they had been killed in an accident. The scan…

Jack Mogale because he lured, raped and killed women at a factory near his home, was found guilty in the Johannesburg High Court on 52 of 61 charges. Judge Frans Kgomo found Mogale guilty of nine kidnappings, 19 rapes, 16 murders, an attempted murder, three robberies with aggravating circumstances, a fraud or theft, an assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, a sexual assault and an escape from lawful custody. Mogale (42) had pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He continually testified that police, witnesses and his common-law wife Charlotte Manaka were conspiring against him. Kgomo dismissed this claim as “far-fetched” and “fallacious”. Dubbed the “West-End …
